South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust is currently looking for competent Student paramedics to fill the holding pool for positions across the Trust. By following an assessment process, chosen candidates can receive an employment subject offer especially on available vacancies and other planned trainings. Other chosen candidates will be held in the holding pool if not immediately offered a position. Running the training course for posts in Dorset and Somerset on October 2012 is highly anticipated. On the other hand, the holding pull will still be filled with other applicants for all other areas of the Trust. Applicants are required to have a good general education, enthusiasm for driving, excellent driving skills with road sense, in-depth knowledge of the Highway Code, good interpersonal skills and most importantly, interest in emergency healthcare. Qualifications: • Must be a qualified ACA with 1 year experience and an Open University ‘openings course’ OR Four GCSEs or equivalent A-C grades in Math, English, Science and other subjects. • Must have a full driving license held for at least one year with a maximum of 3 penalties for certain driving offences. • Holds a category C1 on a driving license. Internal SWAST applicants can apply without category C1 but will not accept any post until the applicant can provide a C1. • Committed to undertake Paramedic Science with an Open University Foundation Degree. • Must have an experience in dealing with a range of age and social groups. • Has excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm. • Has the ability to function in stressful situations with minimum supervision. • Has a wide understanding when it comes to patient needs. • Flexible enough in working odd hours with regard to job demand.
