Last week, it was confirmed that three key emergency operational centres in the UK, have installed a special new computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
Where will the new system be used?
The centres in question are those in Bedford, Chelmsford and Norwich; and it was revealed that work has been going on to put these systems in place for the past 4 months. The new system has been provided to the East England Ambulance Service centres by a company named Cleric. Cleric specialise in computer software development, and were therefore ideal contenders to initiate such a bold scheme.
What does the new system do?
The new system will have huge benefits for patients. It means that they will be delivered ambulances in a far more efficient manner. This is designed to keep them safer, and has been implemented as a result of the East England ambulance service recognising it needs to become more adept at dealing with modern demand.
What has the East England Ambulance Service reaction been to the changes?
The reaction to the changes has been extremely positive. The Chief Executive Officer of the East England Ambulance Service, claimed that this was an essential and extremely positive move. This is believed to have been one of the fastest ever implementations of change in the ambulance service, and therefore everyone involved (which amounted to over 450 people!) can be extremely proud of themselves for delivering well beyond their target.
Likewise, the staff who have been trained to use the new system have also given positive feedback. They believe that this is a system which provides them with the best means to deliver safety to their patients.
